OUCH!!!

I was pretty excited about my new pampered chef pineapple cutter.  The day I got it happened to be a Friday and a swim meet.  What better time to cut some fresh pineapple.  It was about an hour before we needed to leave for the swim meet at EAC.  Now this pineapple cutter is much like the apple cutter I have from pampered chef.  With my apple cutter when I can't get the cutter to cut all the way through I flip it over and push the apple slices through.
Well just for your information when the pineapple slicer says it's supper sharp and NOT to press from the blade end of it THEY MEAN IT!!!!
Actually what threw me off was that I wasn't familiar with where the blades were so I just pushed with both my thumbs.  That would prove to be a HUGE mistake!  Sliced my thumb pretty deep.

So here I am thumb sliced open and needing to finish getting everything ready to leave for a swim meet in about 45 minutes.  My kids got scared when they saw all the blood.  I couldn't get my mom to answer her phone.  So Kiersten insisted on running over to our friends house, Tressie.  She got Tressie and by that time I had called Justin to explain that I need to go get stitches but need someone to finish getting the swim meet snacks and bag packed.  Plus get the kids to the swim meet early so they can warm up, and so we can get a place to sit.
He of course said he would be right home.  I wanted to just drive myself to the doctor but Tressie was so sweet and offered to take me.  She even came back with me while I got the stitches.  Dr.  Smith was the doctor that stitched it up.  He said I came very close to cutting my tendon!!  If I had cut my tendon he said I would be on my way to Tucson to have a specialist stitch it up……….oh wow was I grateful that didn't happen! He ended up not only numbing it but actually doing a completely nerve blocker, which made my thumb enlarge about 3 times its normal size.  It was crazy!  I wish I would have taken pictures of that.  Those 4 shots were the worse part of the whole ordeal!
So after all that drama, I made it to the swim meet.  By this time Justin had called my mom to meet him at the swim meet so he could go back to work.  Heaven forbid he actually get off at 4:00!  So my mom came to the rescue for us!
What crazy timing I tell you!  I am so thankful for great friends and family!  I ended up having to keep the stitches in for 10 days because of where the cut was and how deep it was.  I guess 5 days is the typical amount of time for stitches to stay in.
So learn from my experience………..when Pampered Chef says their product is sharp THEY MEAN IT!!!

Look What We Found At Upper Arcadia

We went up to Upper Arcadia to have a little family picnic.
It was a nice summer Saturday and we wanted to get out of the heat.
The kids had fun building forts, going for hikes and throwing the football around.
I guess at some point Hunter tripped when climbing down the mountain side and rolled in a bush.  He happened to have a tank top on.
He came up crying that he had fallen but never once said that he was itchy.

A day or two later, out of no where, he started to get this strange rash or blisters.

Within two days they were worse and I took him to the doctors.  Dr. Smith had quite the fun because once he looked at it he knew right away that it was POSION IVY!!  He had never heard of it being at Upper Arcadia, but this was proof that it was there.  He showed several other doctors……..guess doctors like seeing this kind of thing?

It sure grew over several days, even with being on medication for it.  It itched immensely and really caused Hunter pain.

One good thing was that it was only in the locations where the actual poison ivy plant rubbed against his skin.

It was so sad to watch Hunter itch and be in pain.  But it's such a typical Hunter thing to come in contact with something crazy!

Guess what's happening.....

After two long, stressful years of trying, crazy medications, 20 pounds gained, we are finally expecting Baby #5 on January 12th.
We are all thrilled beyond words!  The kids are so excited can't you see!

Due to the word being spread without us wanting it to we decided to announce it earlier then we typically would have.  Our kids sure look happy in this picture.  Hope their still this happy when we have a crying baby in our house.
Kiersten had asked me several times, that if she didn't get any Christmas and Birthday presents for several years could we have another baby or adopt a baby girl.  It was so sweet of her.  She would just love to have a sister and I hope she gets one.  But we aren't finding out the gender of the baby until delivery day.  It just seems to help with my difficult deliveries.  I am not a "push 2 or 3 times lady".....I am a push for over 2 hours each and every time.  So that excitement of what your having it the light at the end of my marathon as I call it!
It's been quite the process getting this little angel to come and I am sure the actual deliver will be the same.  We are sure grateful things have been looking good so far with baby.  And I am thrilled beyond words to be off the crazy fertility pills!!!!
