Crazy Weather

While we were in New York enjoying their abnormally warm weather....

Our kids were enjoying SNOW in Safford!
Yes it snowed in March in Safford and New York was in the 60's or 70's everyday.
We sure enjoyed the nice weather in NYC and from the looks of it our kids really enjoyed the bit of snow in Safford!

What a cute kid Logan is!
He has the best sense of humor!

I know it doesn't seem like much....
BUT...
considering it's Safford AND it was March it was a very fun surprise for Spring Break for the kids!

I LOVE THIS PICTURE OF HUNTER!!
He is so rockin' the pink hat.

Doyle and Hunter making snow/dirt angels!

When Tif sent me these pictures of the boys while we were in NYC I got really home sick for my kiddos!
I loved seeing their sweet faces.  It was like day 5 of out vacation and that's about the time I really start to miss my kids.
Thanks Tif for the pictures and for letting the boys have so much fun at your house!
They love going over to Aunt Tifie's house.

Logan, Doyle and Hunter
I love that Doyle is sweeping the snow into a pile with a broom.  I am also hoping Hunter didn't actually throw that snow ball.  If he did I never heard that story....he, he!

He Decided On His Own!

So back in March while Justin and I were on our trip to New York City, Mr. Grant decide, all on his own, that he no longer liked diapers!!!
Both my mom and mother-in-law said he would tell them when he needed to go #2............they would put him on the toilet and just like that he would go.
Both of them never remember having a child that just decided on their own to use the toilet and actually did it with ease............guess I got lucky this time!
My mother-in-law said he insisted on wearing a pull up instead of a diaper and then after she put it on him, he pulled down his pants and peed on her floor.  He didn't want to get his pull up wet.....sorry mom!
 But great job Mr. Grant!

So once our week long trip was over, it was for sure potty training time at our house.
I wasn't looking forward to this at all but to my surprise it was SUPER EASY!
Mr. Grant was our easiest kid to potty train for sure!
He had very few accidents and it was so nice.  And it wasn't time consuming for me at all.  He knew what to do and he has an amazingly large bladder which totally helped.
Some Thomas the Train underoos made the few wet accidents he had stop almost immediately.  He did not want to get Thomas "wet"! In this picture I asked Mr. Grant to show me his new underwear and this is how he posed all on his own!  Nice one dude!
So we are officially a diaper free house...........now that money can go towards a new pair of shoes for Mom.....he, he!

Piano Recital

This is Kiersten and Hunter's second year of taking piano lessons.
At the beginning of the school year as Hunter was having to practice both Piano and violin every morning before school he complained to me.  I sat him down and told him that I didn't care if he quit one.  But that once he made his decision that he had to stick with it through out the whole year.  A day or so later, Hunter came to me and said, "Mom I decided to stay in both piano and violin."
I asked him what changed his mind about quiting piano?
He said, "he couldn't picture Kiersten getting to go to Tracy's house and him not get to go too!"
I really appreciate Tracy Brown being such an amazing piano teacher and friend to my kids.

They just LOVE her!

And I love her for being so good to my kids.

This year she started the Gila Valley Youth Choir Group and started doing the books for her husbands business.  Because of these responsibilities she had to cut back on her piano lessons and she had to completely quit giving voice lessons.  I was thrilled when she said she would keep my kids.  It wasn't until the recital that I realized my kids are the only kids she kept that aren't related to her.

That to me speaks volumes about my kids.

She tells me all the time how "great they are and that she would adopt them in a heart beat!"
I appreciate her a lot!

Thanks Kiersten and Hunter for being such great kids!
They played their pieces from memory without mistakes and I was so proud of them.  They didn't even seem nervous this time!
The kids were excited that both their Grammy's came to watch them play.
Great job kids!

Grammies Mother's Day Surprise

Kiersten has been learning to crochet in her Bridges class.  I love that our school has the Bridges program in it......so awesome.  Kiersten decided to make a crochet corsage for my mom to wear to church on Mother's Day!

Kiersten made all of the flowers and leaves herself.......thanks to Mrs. Kim Skinner who looked up how to make the leaves for this project!
Isn't it so cute?

Kiersten has had a few requests for her to make others for headbands for little girls.  She knows how to crochet headbands as well.....won't they be so cute?  Kiersten is happy to take any requests for some if anyone is interested.....$6 and you pick the color of flowers!

When we gave it to my mom you would have thought that it was worth $100,000.  She was so grateful for it and loved it so much!

On our drive home Kiersten talked the whole way about Grammy Boswell.  Without me initiating the conversation, Kiersten talked about how "grateful Grammy Boswell always is.  It's doesn't matter what it is you give her she acts like it is something highly valuable.  Even a small inexpensive box of chocolates means a lot to her.  You could give her anything and I think she would be thankful to get it. "  Kiersten expressed to me how impressed she is with "Grammy's wonderful grateful heart."
Kiersten said she "doesn't know anyone else that is so thankful for such simple things!"  And I couldn't agree more.
My mom is the most grateful person I know!
I love that Kiersten noticed this characteristic of my mom all on her own!

Kiersten's Story Made My Day!

Thanks to my friend Jamie Allen I have these pictures of Kiersten dancing with company at the Cinco De Mayo Celebration.  Thanks Jamie!
Kiersten is an AMAZING dancer and looks like she is having the time of her life the whole time she is performing!  I always have people telling me how fun it is to watch her and how she really gets your attention.
I heard a wonderful story about Kiersten on the day of the awards assembly at the school.

A mom of a little girl in Kiersten's class (I won't mention names), came up to me after the school awards were over.  She expressed to me how grateful she was for Kiersten.  She told me that Kiersten was the one person that had made school enjoyable for her daughter every single day.  The mom went on to say how her daughter had struggled this year with the other girls in the 5th grade.  The mom cried as she talked about it.  It just broke my heart............girls this age can be so snotty, moody and rude.  I am at the school a lot so I've seen it first hand.  She told me that Kiersten was the only girl in the whole class that had ALWAYS been kind to her daughter.  She went on to say that every day that her daughter came home sad or upset because some of the girls were mean to her, she would have a story about how Kiersten included her or how Kiersten stood up for her.

I could not have been prouder of Kiersten!

I told Kiersten about my conversation with this mom later in the day and I expressed to Kiersten how grateful I am for her example.  I love that she wants to include everyone and wants to make sure everyone is happy!  Kiersten has the most tender heart and I wouldn't want it any other way!  I told Kiersten that this story means more to me then her year long straight A's (well she has actually never received anything but A's in all of her schooling which is pretty remarkable in itself)............ those A's are AWESOME as well!
I think there is not much better then hearing stories of how your children show remarkable character!  That's just not something they study for.....like getting an "A".
I just love being Kiersten's mom!

Am I A Bad Mother Because.....

...I am very excited that Mr. Grant will sit and watch at least two episodes of Super Why in a row?
I asked Justin this question and his response was great.
He said, "No way!  You are just a caring mother that wants their two year old to learn so you kindly turn on an educational program like Super Why!"
Ha, Ha............wish that was the case.  I actually don't care what it is he watches just excited that he'll sit quietly for 45 minutes or more!  But I like Justin's answer better!

"But it tould be fun mom!"

Mr. Grant's new thing is when he wants something he'll tell me,
"But it tould be fun mom!"
The other day I had just fixed his hair so the spray bottle was out.  He took the spray bottle out and sprayed me in the face.  I told him, "NO you can't do that!  It's not nice!!!"
He so sweet and innocently said, "But it tould be fun mom!"
It was so adorable I couldn't refuse. I just let him spray me in the face all he wanted.
We both laughed and had a great time!
I love it when two year old say the most convincing things.........so hard to tell them no!

This picture just makes me smile!  Mr. Grant LOVES airplanes!

I remembered I had this GEO Trac train set that we had all kinds of airplane attachments to.  I got this out one day and he seriously played with it for hours!!  We had to keep it out in the play room for over a month and he played with it daily.  The GEO Trac train set has been a wonderful investment toy for sure.  We have had a lot of it for over 6 years now and kids still love playing with it! We added to the set over several years but we got our first set for Hunter's second birthday.

Mr. Grant was one HAPPY boy with his "Airpain!"
