Our Study on ERs Across the US ............CONTINUES

So as it is with most of our trips we once again got the chance to see a new Urgent Care. At this point it's not even shocking when this happens...............we pretty much budget it in time and money wise! The accident occurred while riding quads up at the Cinder's outside of Flagstaff.
Friday morning we packed up our things from the house in Flagstaff we had rented and the girls (Marla, Aubrey, Kiersten, myself and Garret) headed down to Mesa to shop and enjoy some girl time while the guys (Justin, Hunter, Logan, Uncle Troy, Rieley, Nolan, Carson and Troy's friend, Warren) stayed for the day at the Cinder's to enjoy one last day of riding. They decided to go on a BIG RIDE early on in the morning. Warren, who has no kids and isn't very aware of kids capabilities was driving his Rhino leading the pack. Justin and the two three year olds, Logan and Carson, were also riding in the Rhino. Behind them was Hunter on the Polaris 90 and Nolan was riding on the back of the quad. Then Troy and Rieley were each on the Raptor's in the back. Justin says they took the boys on much harder trails then he would have if he was leading the group, but he never asked Warren to take it easy.....................it's a guy thing I guess? Anyway, they went down a steep mountain trail and Hunter and Nolan ended up going down an even steeper trail to the side of the one Warren and Justin had taken. Troy said he watched as Hunter did an amazing job keeping control of the quad especially considering how steep the trail was. He was using the two hand breaks great until he hit a tree root and it jerked his left hand off the handle bars. Hunter then lost control of the quad and rolled it over. Nolan was able to jump off and out of the way. Hunter wasn't as fortunate and rolled with the quad and ended up being stuck under the quad. Nolan tried he best to get the quad off of Hunter but was unable to do so. Once Troy got to the boys he got the quad off of Hunter. The boys rode with Troy and Rieley back to camp as they were both hurt. Hunter took the worst of it, but Nolan was sore and shook up. Hunter's hand was scraped up and started to swell up, but he didn't complain much and spent the rest of the day riding quads. It was his right hand that was hurt, which is the hand used for the throttle. Hunter is one TUFF kids we all know. He also got a fat lip with cuts inside his mouth. It would have been so much worse had they not had helmets on! We are pretty strict about helmets and boy am I glad on days like this! Hunter's hand was still very swollen the next day once the guys had made it down to Mesa where we were staying for the weekend. He wouldn't use his hand at all so we thought it would be best to get it checked out especially considering he starts Kindergarten in a week and it's his writing hand. Look at Hunter's poor little swollen fingers and hand! He didn't complain very much, just if it got touched or hit on something. We decided to take Hunter to the Urgent Care Saturday morning to get it checked out. They did x-rays and it looked as though there were no fractures but due to all the swelling they said they weren't 100% sure, so they put it in a brace and told us to get it re-xrayed once the swelling was down and we were back home.
It's always an adventure I tell you! It's a good thing we aren't the type of people that over react to traumatic events or we would really be in trouble!!!
Got Hunter's hand re-xrayed today and things looked fine. So he doesn't have to wear the brace anymore unless his hand is hurting and needs a little protection. So things ended up well and we feel very blessed that this was all that happened. It's a good thing Hunter is such a great quad rider or the outcome would have for sure been more severe!

Glad Hunter's hand is ok. Sounds like you always have adventures with your boys! Gotta love 'em!
