School Award Time

Hunter and Fabulous Mrs. Moore
Hunter had a wonderful year in 3rd grade
We are so sad Mrs. Moore is moving to Gilbert.
She is one of my best friends and I will miss her dearly.........although I already have plans to go visit her!!

Kiersten and Ms. Purcell
It was a good year for Kiersten......her teacher was really sweet and she just loved Kiersten.  She told me many times she wished all her students were just like Kiersten!

Kiersten and Hanna

Kiersten with her classmates.

I can't even list all the awards Kiersten and Hunter got.
Kiersten is receiving an award from Mrs. Delane for straight A's in both Spanish and Music..........not only did it have to be A's but you had to get a 95% or higher all four semesters.
Way to go Kiersten!
She is a phenomenal student!  I am so proud of her dedication....she has gotten straight A's every year!
Way to go Kiersten!  We love you!

This would be Hunter and his "girlfriend" Lizzy Warren!

Funny story....

Hunter asked me if he earned some money if he could use some of it to add money to the kids prepaid phone.

I told him "sure I don't care."
I had no idea where he was going with this....

He continued, "Okay good.  Once I get the phone working again do you think you could drop me and Lizzy off at The Caboose so we could get frozen yogurt.  Then I can call you when we are done and you can come pick us back up. Don't worry mom I will pay for our frozen yogurt too!"

I proceeded to explain to him that no he couldn't do that because that would be a date.  I told him he can't do something like that until he is 16.

He responded with a, "Are you serious? Why not mom.......we just want to eat frozen yogurt? I don't understand?"

It was so sweet and innocent.
I wish he could stay that same innocent little boy that just wants to take his crush to eat frozen yogurt.

Lizzy's mom, Tabitha and I got a kick out of that story.  Hunter is a little romantic and very creative.  So once he can date I know he will be coming up with some fun ones!

Hunter and his best bud, Justice Nelson.
Or his "brother from another mother" as they both put it!

They got an award for being the "Two Musketeer's!"

We are so proud of Hunter and all the many awards he got.
He is also a straight A student and always has been.  Mrs. Moore had so many great things to say about Hunter.
Thanks Hunter for being such a great kid and student!
We love you!

End of School Year Treats

The kids had wonderful teachers this year and it was time for teacher gifts.
I am always wanting to give my kids teachers something they'll really love because I appreciate them so much.

So Jingling Justin got to work and came up with the cutest jingle ever.
I told him my idea of what I was going to get them and he worked his magic.
In like 5 minutes he had this jingle for me..........he is awesome!!!!

So the teachers got a pedicure, cute flip flops and some hot tamales.
They all loved them!
We even gave one to Jenny, Kiersten's dance instructor and she loved the shoes so much she wore them to the end of the year recital and at Disneyland.  That just made Kiersten's day!

All in all it's been a great year!

Thank you Pinterest for these adorable treat ideas.
The kids loved taking them to their classmates!
We've loved school but boy are we ready for SUMMER!!

Love of Reading Week

Every year the kids charter school has a Love of Reading Week.   This year the theme was
"Reading Through the Ages"
Each day the kids got to dress up and they had special activities.

One day was "Future Day"....

On this day different people came and talked about what their career is and read books to the kids.
This is our good friend Stewart Shupe reading to Hunter's class..........man does that orange CKC shirt stand out or what. Thanks Wendy for the picture!

The kids dressed up as what they wanted to be when they grew up.
Kiersten dressed up as a dancer!
Logan was a Rock Star!
Hunter dressed up as Justin!
Doesn't Hunter look like a miniature Justin with his hair combed over?  He even tucked his shirt in, wore a black belt and used Justin's phone case because he said he wants to "be just like his dad when he grows up!"
Hunter keeps saying he is going to take over Justin's job............that would be good and all but I am still holding out for him to become a dentist or something :)

One day was 70's day.  Logan was thrilled that I would actually let him have writing on himself.  I did remind him it was just a "costume".....................he said, "oh okay.........but it's still cool!"

Hunter wanted to show me how he thought "Hippies" really stood and would take their picture.
It totally made me laugh!  Look about right don't 'cha think?

Don't they look good.
I think my tie dye shirts turned out good!

I just love this part of school.....making memories for sure!

Peace, Love and Rock-n-roll!

Hunter wanted a peace sign on his belly...........why not it's dress up day after all.

This day was the Stone ages.....
the kids dressed up as cavemen.  They got to bring flashlights and read their books in the dark.
  They loved it!
Darn cute cavemen if you ask me!

Music Performance

For the end of the year music program it was a dance.  They decided to have it out on the basketball court instead of at the college.  It worked out nice and it actually wasn't windy for once!

Kiersten dancing with her friend Jerelyn.

Hunter dancing with Rachel

And this would be our entertainer Logan.
Mrs. Delane, the music teacher, asked Logan to wear his hat to the performance.
He really hammed it up.............especially at the part "bow to your partner!"
Thank you Wendy for taking this picture......I just love it!

Most of the kids looked serious the whole time or maybe it was scared............
Not our Logan, he was in heaven!

Logan seriously had a smile on his face the entire time!

Logan and Brenner Moore kept getting my attention so I would take their picture.  It was so stinkin' cute!
I just love Brenner..........him and Logan have the best time playing together!
We love the Moore's and will miss them dearly.
But we'll be down to visit them a lot!
It was a great music performance and it is always amazing what Mrs. Delane is able to accomplish with these kids!

"You Finally Took Us!"

We had some late snow at the end of February and the kids were dying to go sledding.  So we finally took them.....I don't think we ever made it up to play in the snow last winter.  How sad is that!

We had some very, very happy kids!

Logan wasn't scared of the steep hills at all.

Smiling and laughing all the way.

If you look close in the air, you can see the snowball Logan threw at me.....
What's up with that dude?

So we were at Twilight Canyon and found some fun sledding places just down the mountain a ways.  I had hiked back up to the truck to get Logan a hot chocolate.  I come back and Justin has started a fire............without anything.

I guess this log was smoldering and so Justin started blowing on it and fanning it.  Sure enough he got it to start a blazing fire in the middle of the snow.
I was so impressed and believe me so were the kids!
They think their Daddy is one Amazing guy......which is fitting because he is!
It was nice to warm up my the fire.
Justin being the Eagle Scout that he is made good and sure that the fire was completely put out before we left.

Going up to the mountains in the snow brings back so many great memories!
We went to Mt. Graham so much with friends in high school and college.  In fact Justin proposed to me up at Columbine on the mountain. So the mountain really is close to my heart.

Hunter was taking our picture and he told us, "Don't you think dad deserves a KISS for making that fire?"
I couldn't agree more!

I love that Logan is in the middle of sledding down the hill, about to hit the jump and he is still looking right at the camera just smiling away.
Hilarious!

My kids were all impressed I remembered the cool whip for the hot chocolate.  Well everyone but Logan.....he hates cool whip.

I just love my kids!
We decided to have Mr. Grant stay with Grammy Boswell....next year for sure we will bring him to the snow!

Kiersten and Hunter went right to work when we first got there to build a snowman!

Doing good.....

Awesome snowman guys!

Logan is obsessed with doing head stands....apparently even in the snow!
He does have amazing balance!

Kiersten is great at them as well!

Love my girl!

Hunter hitting the jump....
I was bummed I took his picture a little too soon.

Now Logan I caught right in mid air.
He loved this picture!
It was a great trip.....we stayed about 6 hours playing in the snow.
I hope to not miss another year of snow with my kids again! This trip was that fun!

Easter Time Fun

This was Kiersten and Mr. Grant Easter morning.  It was sad to be away from them and see their sweet faces when they saw what the Easter Bunny had gotten them.  Hunter couldn't believe he got stuff at home as well as in Chicago, where we were staying for Easter.
I was happy to see some much needed teather balls!

Before the boys and I left for our trip to Chicago, we had our annual glow-in-the-dark  Easter egg hunt.

I love these eggs I found at Target years ago.  You use little black light flashlight and the strip around the eggs light up.  Kids are always excited to count their money!!

The kids look forward to this every year.  I think mostly because it's fun to do in the dark but more importantly the eggs have money in them!!!

So happy and a little richer!

I also love our tradition of teaching the kids the story about Easter using the egg kit I got years ago.  There is a small object in each plastic egg and they all represent a part of the true story of Jesus Christ's crucifixion and resurrection.

I am ever so grateful for my Savior, Jesus Christ.  For his atoning sacrifice for me, which allows me the opportunity to repent and one day return to live with my Father in Heaven.  I am thankful to know of Our Heavenly Father's Plan of Happiness and to feel of his love.  I want my children to know and feel the love that Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father has for each of them.  They know us individually and care about every aspect of our lives.  I am grateful for the gospel of Jesus Christ and for the Easter season.  It is always a sweet reminder of what our Savior has done and continues to do for us all.
