Kiersten is so serious when she's playing the violin. I told her she should smile and she said she couldn't because she is focusing on the music. It makes sense cause they play all their pieces by memory.........no sheet music to look at.
They sounded so good! We are always impressed with Kim Skinner and Mr. DeRusha's talent and ability to teach these kids. They not only teach them to play the violin but they are instilling in them a great love for music and a feeling of accomplishment. My favorite song was "The Crawdad Song"............they played and sang! It was really great and the kids did a fabulous job!
Hunter joined the school choir. It might have been to get out of class but he said it's cause he like to sing.........which is true.
The whole school sang a few songs together. They did a great job! We love Mrs. Delane! She does a fabulous job with music and Spanish as she is the teacher for both classes.
Kiersten's class played their Kazoo's as part of their music performance. It was cute! It reminded me of being a kid.......I loved the Kazoo.
The end of the performance was really neat. Mrs. Delane had made a slide show of pictures throughout the year and the older grades (3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th) all sang a song while the slide show played on the screen behind them. I though it turned out awesome!
Kiersten was one of four students from the strings program that received an award. Kiersten got an award for having The Best Attitude. Mr. DeRusha gave Kiersten the award and he talked about how she comes to class everyday all decked out, styling from head to toe with the attitude to go with it. They just fed my addiction for shopping! Now it's like I "have to" make sure Kiersten wears adorable outfits...........they expect it and I would hate to let them down :)
Kiersten really does have a great attitude and is very self driven. She always gives her best and expects so much of herself. Great job Kiersten!
