This is SPIKE!
He is a bearded dragon.
Hunter has wanted a lizard type pet for some time now. So with his quarters that the kids all earn from good behavior he bought Spike from the Pet Store. Actually, with the help of Logan and Kiersten's quarters he bought Spike. All three kids agreed to combine their money to pay for him.
Very low maintenance which is great for mom and dad. He eats all kinds of bugs...........which is PERFECT for our boys. They are constantly finding bugs and now they have a pet to feed them to. It is quite fun to get Spike out of his tank and put him on the floor with a bug and watch him hunt it. This is Hunter feeding Spike a worm.
Hunter has been very responsible as the agreement was that even though Kiersten and Logan pitched in money for Spike........the duties of taking care of Spike was all Hunter's. After all he was the one that wanted him so bad. I haven't heard Hunter complain a single time about it. Spike is very mild tempered, which I believe is typical of Bearded Dragons. Hunter regularly takes him out in the backyard to play. All the older neighbor boys love Spike as well. Spike will just lay on Hunter's shoulder and they both seem as happy as can be!
We happen to know the family that Spike came from and the story about how he lost his leg..............it the middle picture you can see his back leg is missing.
Steve and Sue Hackett's grand kids use to own Spike.........formally known as Stumpy (fitting right). Due to circumstances they gave him to Steve and Sue..........who actually back in June asked me if I wanted him. I wasn't in the market for a pet so I never told the kids about the offer and life went on as normal. Well a few months later I found myself in the market for a pet and actually a bearded dragon. So I called Sue in hopes that she still had Stumpy. She had given him to the Pet Store..........so we went down and found him..........and after paying a pretty penny (really a TON OF QUARTERS)...........Stumpy became ours and he was renamed Spike!
Spike had a sister that he shared a tank with when he lived with the Hackett grand kids. One day as he played with his sister............she got mad enough and bit his leg off! YIKES RIGHT! Kiersten thought that was pretty cool and Hunter was glad to have a nice sister that hasn't bitten his leg off......yet!
