The Great Greer Boat Race

We were all so excited for the Great Greer Boat Race!  You can "buy" a boat for $5 or 5 boats for $20. We got 5 boats!!

The boys were super excited to see our first "real" Greer boat race. What a fun event for Labor Day Weekend!! Have I mentioned how much I love Greer!!

Grant was weaving grass blades and one of the volunteers joined in with them. Everyone was so friendly and kept us entertained while we waited.

And the boat race begins!!

They had a good crew of kids to help catch the loosing boats. Looked like a job our kids would enjoy doing.

So luck to be this girls mom!  We went for a 3 mile run this morning and it was great!  We ended up walking about half a mile or so because they hill was just too steep for us.

We got the perfect view of the finish line!! The boys were pretty excited about that!

Ella was excited to find her own rock to sit on.

They put up boards down a small part of the Little Colorado River that runs right through Greer. You can see the boat loaders with the boats set out on the board ready to be placed in the river.

There they go...

The race is on!  They had 25 heats of 18 boats. The winning two boats out of each race moved on to the semi-finals.

We were ecstatic when one of our boats actually one a race!!  Woot woot! 1098 was the winner!  It was pretty exciting!

There it goes!

We were all screaming and cheering. We were right next to the fun lady that was doing the announcing and she started cheering on the megaphone as well.

Everyone agrees that Greer for Labor Day Weekend is going to be our new tradition!

I love spending time with my family! Don't get me wrong we fight, we can yell and get on each other nerves. But these are still my most favorite people right here in this picture!

Ella loves her daddy and is loving this shoulder ride. We didn't end up winning in the semi-finals but yeah at least we won one race.
