Enjoying the New Traditions

The evening we learned about the shepherds we make these fun shepherd staff cookies. The kids had a fun time twisting them.........Kiersten was at dance, so we saved some for her to make and of course Justin wasn't home before 8:00 so he missed out as well. This night Justin was home...........it was Sunday that would be why. He taught us about the wise men and the kids loved wearing the crowns........thanks to Grammie Cluff. I love this picture.........Logan had been naughty so he was sent off to bed early. The next morning he expressed how sad he was to miss hearing the story. Kiersten and Hunter on the other hand seemed to really enjoy this night! They asked questions..........and expressed their thoughts. It ended up being a wonderful learning experience. Love It! One evening we had a Jerusalem Dinner.
The kids each got a costume to wear. Justin and I were Mary and Joseph and we were waiting here in the office with baby Jesus (a doll). The kids were dressed as the Three Wise Men (Mr. Grant spent the evening playing at the Shupe's). I thought candles on the ground and Mr. Grant just might not mix..........Thanks Shebly for watching him for an hour for me. The food actually was yummy and we enjoyed sitting on the floor eating it. Cheeses and dried fruits
Lintel soup
We also had flat breads, hummus, shrimp, and grape juice
The kids were extremely thrilled to get to wear costumes.
They were told to look throughout the house for the star that would show them where the Christ Child had been born. Kiersten kind of helped me out and made sure they looked by the office last so their "journey" wouldn't be too short. All the lights in the whole house were off and each kid had a flash light to help them find their way.
I had placed a large glow in the dark star on the door to the office.
As we ate, Justin read the story of the Saviors birth from the scriptures.
it was a great experience and the kids each asked if we could do it again next year.
It was fun to eat only by candle light.............and there was sweet spirit as we talked about Jesus birth.
